Landslide near Kalikhola sweeps cops’ van, truck into Trishuli River


Kalikhola landslideAn avalanche close Kalikhola along the Narayangadh-Muglin street segment has cleared away a van conveying four police work force and a truck into the Trishuli River in the small hours of Friday. 



The occurrence happened while the group of police work force sent from the Muglin-based Area Police Office were returning in the wake of assessing avalanche at Charkilo activated by the unending precipitation at around 9:40 pm yesterday, as per Superintendent of Police Deepak Thapa at the District Police Office, Chitwan. He said the police van (Na 1 Jha 1390) and the truck (Na 5 Kha 7827) handling the street were abruptly hit by another avalanche close Kalikhola at 1:05 am.The group included Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Nischal Tamang (29), of Khaniya Rural Municipality-4; Van driver, a Police Constable Deepak Kumar Maskey (30) of Haraiya-6 in Bara area; Sandeep Karki (21) of Rupakot-3 in Tanahun region and Lil Bahadur Chepang (31) of Makaisingh-1 in Gorkha locale. 

Assortments of Tamang and Maskey have been recouped from the rocks stored beneath the street on a high ground over the stream, while the scan is on for two different constables Karki and Chepang. 

It has been learnt that Tamang and Maskey were on front seat on board the van, SP Thapa said. 

Police have likewise safeguarded the truck driver's aide Sijal Lama and sent him to a wellbeing organization in Aanbu Khaireni for treatment. The truck driver Ram Kumar Lama has been discovered unharmed.Police have expected that both the vehicles may have dove into the stream together with the avalanche flotsam and jetsam.

The episode site is at the separation of 2.5 kilometers from Muglin towards Narayangadh.
